Understand the Physics before choosing the formula
VCE Physics · Units 1–4
Physics becomes more manageable when students can describe a situation, draw a useful diagram and explain the model behind a calculation. Our tutoring develops this reasoning alongside the mathematical skills needed to solve unfamiliar questions.
Learn in person in Melbourne’s western suburbs, or through individual online tutoring across Victoria. Smart Tutoring Services is led by Andrew, a PhD candidate in physics with an academic background in biochemistry, physics and mathematics. Our explanations, prepared resources and feedback are tailored to the student’s starting point.

Connect ideas across Units 1–4
Support can address light and thermal energy, electricity, motion and energy, fields, electricity generation, the nature of light and matter, and special relativity. Investigation skills develop alongside the relevant content.
Lessons follow the applicable VCAA study design and the student’s current learning needs. Unit 2 options can vary between schools, so tell us which area your class is studying.
Students learn to connect topics: how an energy approach can complement force analysis, and how graphs communicate physical relationships rather than simply presenting numbers.
A clear process for challenging questions
Starting an unfamiliar problem is often the hardest step. Students practise a repeatable process that makes the important decisions visible.
Represent the situation: identify the system, draw a diagram and label relevant quantities.
Choose a model: explain which physical principles apply and note assumptions.
Work carefully: organise equations, directions, units and substitutions.
Evaluate the answer: check its size, direction and meaning in the original situation.
We also develop concise conceptual explanations: describing causes and effects, comparing situations and supporting arguments with relevant principles.
Develop confidence with data, SACs and exams
Preparation combines targeted questions with mixed and timed practice when appropriate. Feedback addresses method selection, calculation accuracy, diagrams and the clarity of explanations.
Students interpret gradients and areas, analyse experimental relationships, consider uncertainty and distinguish what evidence supports from what it cannot establish. Investigation support helps students understand their own methods and conclusions.
Notes, practice questions, assessments and fully worked solutions structure revision between lessons. Reviewing recurring errors, revisiting the relevant concept and attempting a different question creates a practical improvement cycle.
Choose a suitable way to learn
Individual, paired and small-group tutoring are available in person in Melbourne’s western suburbs, subject to suitable sessions and availability. Individual online Physics tutoring welcomes students across metropolitan, regional and rural Victoria, including Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

Questions about Physics tutoring
Can you help if my algebra is affecting Physics?
Yes. We can work on equation rearrangement, graphs, conversions and other mathematical skills within the Physics questions where they are needed.
Do you help with conceptual questions as well as calculations?
Yes. Lessons develop diagrams, explanations, comparisons and interpretation alongside numerical work. Understanding why a method applies is central to our approach.
How do I choose the right tutoring option?
Start with the free 15-minute assessment conversation. We discuss learning needs, goals and availability, then explain suitable formats and the next step. There is no obligation to enrol.
Find a clearer starting point in Physics
Tell us the student’s current unit, difficult topics and upcoming assessment priorities. We will discuss a practical next step, suitable times and fees before you decide.
