Start with what your child needs now
It can be hard to know whether your child needs more practice, a different explanation or help with an earlier skill. We begin by understanding their learning needs, then build from familiar ideas towards the next step. Students have space to ask questions, explain their thinking and practise with guidance.
Make the basics make sense. Connect the building blocks behind a difficult task to the work your child is doing at school.
Build confidence through practice. Break unfamiliar work into manageable steps, then give students opportunities to try independently.
Prepare for the next stage. Strengthen problem-solving and positive learning habits through primary school and towards Year 7.
Support for the skills that matter every day
Mathematics
Number understanding, the four operations, fractions, measurement and problem-solving, selected to suit the student’s year level. The aim is to understand how a method works and when to use it.
English
Reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling and written expression. Students practise understanding what they read and organising their own ideas clearly.
Science
Exploring scientific ideas, asking useful questions and describing observations with appropriate language. Lessons help students connect ideas with examples they can understand.
Learning habits
Following instructions, checking work, asking for help and developing greater independence with school tasks. We encourage students to explain their thinking as well as give an answer.
See where maths support will help most
Maths students complete a 45-minute diagnostic test covering the expected content for their year level. This helps us identify strengths and gaps in understanding so support can focus on the foundations that need attention.
The maths diagnostic is separate from the free 15-minute academic assessment conversation. We can discuss the diagnostic process and suitability for your child when you enquire.
Purposeful practice, with support along the way
A clear explanation and a guided example help a child see how to begin. Trying a related question shows what they can do independently. Reviewing errors together makes the next practice task more useful. Carefully prepared learning resources support students as they revisit important ideas.
Choose support that fits your family
Individual tutoring offers focused guidance for one student. Paired tutoring lets two students learn with one tutor, while small groups provide structured teaching and collaborative practice. In-person options are available at our centre for families across the western suburbs; individual online lessons welcome families across Victoria.
We will discuss the student’s needs, available places and fees before you decide. Explore tutoring formats.
